Gov. Jay Nixon praises Palmyra school district.

Gov. Jay Nixon on Friday visited Palmyra High School to recognize the Palmyra R-1 School District for its record of academic excellence. The governor praised the school district for being designated as a School of Distinction for 12 years in a row, and for having Missouri’s A+ Schools designation. He also noted the district’s impressive average graduation rate of more than 93 percent last year, as well as last year’s average ACT score of 21.9.
For a public school district to achieve the Distinction in Performance Designation, the district must meet at least 13 out of 14 academic standards, including all six Missouri Assessment Program standards.
