With the end of homecoming activities, the class of 2013 went out on a winning note as the Hannibal High School seniors beat the juniors 5-4 to win the Powder Puff Bowl championship Wednesday night when Gabby York crashed through the junior defensive line and into the end zone on the final play of the game before time expired in regulation.
York passed for one touchdown aside from scoring the game winner on the ground.
In the third place game, the freshmen beat the sophomores 5-1 without any problems.
The seniors beat the freshmen 4-3 in the first game of the night with York scoring all four of the Class of 2013’s touchdowns. For the freshmen, Julie Colborn scored twice while Anasia Elder also found the end zone.
The freshmen scored on the opening drive against the seniors when Colborn found the end zone on a rushing play. After the seniors countered with a TD of their own, the freshman took over only to throw an interception. However, the freshmen defense stopped the senior offense from scoring. After the seniors stopped the freshmen’s next drive,
York gave the seniors its first lead of the game with her second rushing TD of the night. The class of 2016 answered right back when Elder found the end zone for the freshmen to tie the game at 2-2.
After another York touchdown to give the seniors back the lead, the class of 2013 stopped the freshmen offense for the third time. York then extended the seniors’ lead with her fourth rushing TD of the game to put the seniors up 4-3.
The freshmen didn’t go down quietly though as Colborn scored again for the class of 2016 as time expired in the opening round.
In the evening’s other preliminary game, the juniors advanced to the championship game against the seniors after the class of 2014 beat the class of 2015 6-4.
Suiting up for the freshmen were; Bethany Allen, Taylor Bramblett, Teri Davis, Clair Doyle, Gabby Ewert, Danielle Foster, Rachel Halterman, Tamiera Smith, Jessica Taylor, Lonnesha White, Jordan Zimmer and Colborn.
The sophomore class consisted of Adriana Dunn, Destiny Gardner, Kailea Griffen, Rachel Rawlings, and Samie Woodrow.
On the junior class roster were; Jalissa Blue, Raylynn Charlton, Abby Conn, Lauren Holliday, Ashley Leffert, Jennifer White, and Emily Wilcoxson.

The boys of Hannibal High School took the roles of cheerleaders and coaches while coaches served as referees during the game. All money made from entrance to the game and concessions went to Hannibal’s Project Graduation.
