A quick 21-point first quarter lead by Class 1 10th-ranked Westran would evaporate to a 27-27 tie with No. 2 Salisbury late in the fourth quarter Friday during a fierce battle among these state ranked and Lewis & Clark Conference football rivals.
Fortunately for the Hornets, sophomore quarterback Zane Jacoby found a seam on a fourth-and-inches near the goal line to score a 1-yard touchdown run giving Westran a 33-27 lead.
Then 5'9 defensive back Parker Howard found himself one-on-one with 6'4 Salisbury receiver Zach Wyatt with less than a minute to play, and the pass from Wyatt's twin brother Austin landed in the hands of Howard for a Westran game-saving interception with just 0:23 remaining to be played.
