  • On Monday the intersection of U.S. 61 at Ross Street in Palmyra re-opened to traffic at approximately 4:30 p.m. The improvements included drainage work and widening areas in the median and the west side of U.S. 61/24 to accommodate new turn lanes at the intersections.
On Tuesday, MoDOT and its contractor started working at the Thompson Street to add an acceleration lane southbound, intersection widening and lengthening turn lanes. Tentatively, the week of Oct. 15, Thompson Street will be closed for two to three weeks to complete the work.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane on northbound and southbound U.S. 61 with a 45 mph speed limit at the work zone. Crews will be working during daytime work hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
