What’s
happening
“They’re slip-forming the curb and gutter and are coming down the hill.” said City Engineer Mark Rees, referring to the area west of Clover Road. “They’re still doing drainage work on the east end. Most of the major earth work (east of Clover Road) appears to be done.
“They still need to finish re-laying a BPW water line.”

What’s next
“Once the curb and gutter is in and has cured in a week or so they will have the option to pave the street,” said Rees.
Anticipated cost
Bleigh Construction is the project’s contractor. It was awarded the job after submitting a bid of $979,432. The city budgeted $1.2 million for the work.
Two change orders have been approved by the City Council thus far. In June, $3,800 was added for the removal of trees and creek channel realignment. In August, another $13,480 was OK’d for the relocation of a Ralls County water district pipeline. The cost of the project now amounts to $996,712.

Who’s paying
The Stardust extension project was one of six major projects identified by the city to undertake with bond money.
The issuance of $5 million in revenue bonds was approved by voters in April 2008.
Projected date for completion
The contractor, Bleigh Construction, has until the middle of December to complete the work.
