    New Bloomfield 5, North Callaway 3
    The New Bloomfield softball team provided North Callaway with a shock as the Wildcats knocked off the Thunderbirds 5-3 Monday night.
    New Bloomfield had just five hits, but four of them were doubles and three of those doubles came in the Wildcats three run fourth inning.
    New Bloomfield's Kennedy Peiter led off the fourth with a double and was followed by Mykaela Bonnett who walked. Abby Haas the laced a two-run double to score Peiter and Bonnett. Taylor Howard then doubled Hass home to give New Bloomfield a 3-0 lead.
    North Callaway then tied the game up in the bottom half of the inning. The Thunderbirds started with a single by Kelsey Coil and then Cheyenne Chapin was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second before Baylie Borman walked to load the bases with no outs.
    Coil scored on a passed ball while the other runners each moved up 90 feet. Brynn McGrath grounded out to short, but Chapin was able to score on the play. Jaida Gray tied the game at 3-3 when she singled to score Borman.
    But that would be the last time North Callaway scored as New Bloomfield added single runs in the top of the fifth and the sixth to retake the lead. New Bloomfield scored
    The loss was the first of the year for Gray (4-1) who allowed five hits and four runs in five innings of work. Gray walked one while striking out seven.
    Louisiana takes two on Monday
    The Louisiana softball team finished a game from last Monday, beating Mark Twain 2-0 before playing its regularly scheduled game with Clopton and pulling out a 6-5 win.
    Louisiana pitcher Vanhooser picked up the win in both games. Against Mark Twain, Vanhooser allowed three hits and two walks while striking out seven. Henderson had the game winning RBI.
    In the second game, Vanhooser scattered eight hits and one walk while striking out four. Henderson was 2-for-3 while Bolton was 2-for-4 with the game winning home run.
