It took three sets, but the Hannibal seventh grade volleyball team beat Bowling Green 25-11, 10-25, 25-18 Monday night.
"It was good to play Bowling Green again after playing them two weeks ago to measure our improvement," Hannibal seventh grade coach Mary Ann St Clair said via email. "This was our first three set match so the kids got more playing time and didn't give up after we lost the second set."
Skylar Dyke and Meredith Curtis both led the Lady Pirates with seven service points. Dyke recorded three aces while Curtis had two. Shelby Stine finished the night with five service points and also recorded a pair of aces for the Lady Pirates.
St Clair was pleased with the way her team played Monday night.
"We did some good things, adjusting to their serve and getting the ball to the setter," St Clair said. "We need to continue improving our anticipation and movement to the ball if we want to get consistent. We passed, set and spiked the ball several times more than we have the past weeks so that is encouraging."
