Rich and poor alike agree America is in deep economic trouble. Conservatives and liberals concur on the destructive nature of our debt. Republicans’ solution to this problem is to lower taxes. Their answer to our economic issues is to give less to country.
Patriotism requires the sacrifice of treasure, sweat and blood. How can any patriot possibly believe our duty is to give less when the country is in dire straits? Taxes did not cause the continuing economic burdens of the U.S. However, not paying what one owes in taxes could be an issue.
Hardworking Americans have to balance their budgets at home, and they want leaders who can do the same in Washington. Spending money we do not have is simply unpalatable, and Obama has shown no restraint in spending our tax money.
We now are in a black hole of red ink, saddled with a new entitlement from the health care law and facing a demographic nightmare. If someone doesn’t do the job, you have to let him go.
“Are you better off today than you were four years ago/” That question has recently been answered by the major political parties in absolutely predictable manner. The Republicans say “no,” the Democrats say “yes.”
My take is slightly different. I say that if we really were better off today than we were four years ago, then the question wouldn’t even come up for discussion. The alternative has not earned another four years in the White House. He must not be re-elected, even if the alternative probably isn’t much better.
