  • Robert Keith Baker, 87, of Monroe City, Mo., passed away at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal, Mo.

  • Robert Keith Baker, 87, of Monroe City, Mo., passed away at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal, Mo.
    He was born July 20, 1925, in McFall, Mo., the son of Barney Otis and Kathleen Weller Baker.
    Bob worked for Kulhman Diecasting for 37 years as an industrial electrician. He was a member of the Monroe City United Methodist Church, Monroe City, Mo. He was a 1943 graduate of Monroe City High School and a 1944 graduate of Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, Ill. He also attended the Hannibal Area Vocational Technical School in Hannibal, Mo.
    Mr. Baker served his country during World War II as an electrician. He was awarded the Victory Medal and the Medal of Defense. He was a longtime member of the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Scout leader of Troop 132 in Monroe City for many years. Bob was also an active member of the American Cancer Society of Hannibal, Mo., and participated in the Relay for Life in Paris, Mo., annually. He also enjoyed passing out stuffed animals at all local parades in the area to all the little children. He was a member of Friends of Arrowrock, Arrowrock, Mo.
    He married Jean Alberta Sheppard July 11, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas. She passed away Jan. 15, 2003.
    Survivors include two sons, David Michael Baker and wife, Marilyn, Lees Summit, Mo.; and Steven Baker and wife, Paula Marie, Philadelphia, Mo. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two sons, Gary and Barney Baker.
    Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at the Garner Funeral Chapel, Monroe City, Mo. Pastor Thad Carter will officiate. Burial will be at St. Jude Cemetery, Monroe City, Mo.
    Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, Mo.
    Pallbearers will be David Michael Baker, Steven Baker, Eric Baker, Paul Baker, Natasha Baker and Gabrielle Baker.
    Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society.
    Garner Funeral Home and Chapel, Monroe City. Mon., is in charge of arrangements.
