The Hannibal High School tennis team defeated Jacksonville on Thursday for its third win of the season.
“We are happy to get a win and we’re feeling pretty good,” Hannibal Head Coach Jay Johnson said.
Hannah Stilley lost her match 6-1, 6-1, Anna Bastian won 6-4, 6-0, Courtney Bueler won 6-2, 6-4, Kristen Hampton won 6-1, 6-4, Jessica Thomeczek won 6-0, 6-3 and Mikayla Murphy won 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, Johnna Lasby and Kaitlyn Willing lost 6-3, 6-2, Courtney Northcutt and Katie Altheide won 7-5, 6-2 and Mackenzie Lane and Alexis Houser won 4-6, 6-4 (10-7 tie breaker) to give Hannibal the 7-2 victory.
In junior varsity action, Baylie Heibel and Haley Yarrington won 3-6, 6-3 (10-6 tie breaker) and lost their second match 6-3, 6-3. Hannah Stilley and Devin Nelson lost their first game 6-2, 6-3 and won their second one 6-4, 6-4 and Nelson and Rebecca Sutton won their first match 7-5, 6-4 and lost their second one 6-1, 6-1.
Hannibal plays again on Monday at home against Palmyra.
