    Brooks E. Foote, 84, of Hannibal, died at 6:45 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel, with the Revs. Mark Albee and David Boyd officiating. Burial with full military honors will be conducted by Emmette J. Shields Post #55, the American Legion, will be at Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
    Brooks was born May 14, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., to Charles E. and Verla Kirby Foote. He married Wanda Sue Alexander Foote, Feb. 20, 1972, at Salt Lick Baptist Church in Spalding, Mo., and she survives.   Other survivors include four children, Margaret Foote of Washougal, Wash., Kathleen (Gary) Hillyard of Roseburg, Ore., Edward Foote of Rhododendron, Ore., and Michael (Pam) Foote of Days Creek, Ore. Also surviving are five grandsons, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  
    Brooks retired as lead mechanic after working 38 years for United Airlines. He lived in California most of his life and retired to Hannibal 22 years ago. The Footes traveled after retirement and especially enjoyed ocean cruises. Brooks was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a Navy Seal. Brooks was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
    Memorials may be made to Ramsour Ministries for Nepal Missions in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pallbearers will be Russ Alexander, Dick Johnson, Mark Alexander, Kevin Saul, Russell Woodhurst and Dr. David Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be John Clayton, William Clayton, Lance Krigbaum, Andy Heskett, Larry Bross, Cardell McDonald, Andy Woollen and Jerry Ketsenburg.
