Hannibal-LaGrange University's annual campus renewal, 3 Days in September, will be held Wednesday through Friday, Sept. 12 to 14, in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center. Chapel services will be held each day at 10 a.m. along with a special chapel at 7 p.m. Thursday. Missouri Music Men will be performing at the Thursday evening chapel. This special chapel is open to the public and is free to attend.
This year's guest speaker will be Mike Harland.
A high school honors student, Harland received a full scholarship in baseball, leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Delta State University in 1984. He was on the Dean's list at Delta State and voted outstanding vocalist for three years running.
While attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Harland served churches in Mississippi and Louisiana, completing a Master of Church Music degree in 1987. He continued to serve churches in Mississippi and Texas, as well as lead conferences, retreats, revivals, and youth camps. His youth choirs toured Minneapolis, New York City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and sang at the White House in Washington, D.C.
Harland has always had the heart of a songwriter. His songs have been recorded by The Imperials, Gold City, Luke Garrett, Chris and Diane Machen, Steve Amerson, Calvin Hunt, and others. After a decade of writing songs and finding them printed by numerous entities, Harland became an exclusive songwriter for LifeWay in 2002.
Harland recently co-authored a book and corresponding Bible study, Seven Words of Worship, with good friend and worship ministry consultant Stan Moser.
Ever the worship leader with a heart for the local church, Harland currently serves as Director for LifeWay Worship, LifeWay Christian Resources, Nashville, Tennessee, a position that enables him to speak, teach, and lead at worship conferences and events nationwide.
Harland and his wife, Teresa, reside in Franklin, Tenn., with their children Lee, Elizabeth and John.
