The Mark Twain Museum will host two writers’ workshops this fall, with the first scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in the museum gallery. This workshop will focus on writing for, with and about children. It will be led by museum Executive Director and children’s author Cindy Lovell.
Lovell said one characteristic everyone has in common is being a former child. She noted that Mark Twain can teach a lot in this area, because he wrote many of his best-loved works for and about children. The workshop will explore ways to connect with young writers and writing children’s literature.
The course fee is $75 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch at LulaBelle’s. An optional two credit hours of graduate credit is available through Quincy University for $120. Participants should bring a laptop or any writing tools needed.
Space is limited. Call (573) 221-9010, Ext. 401, to sign up.
The second writers’ workshop will be on Saturday, Oct. 13, and will focus on memoir writing.
