  • Scott’s Chapel United Methodist Church will be celebrating 125 years of ministry with special services and a reception on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012.
The congregation first met in Brittanham Hall on Broadway in Hannibal, Mo., in 1887.
On Sept. 16, morning worship will be at 10 a.m. instead of the usual time of 11 a.m. The Rev. Dale Stone, Mark Twain District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church, will be bringing the message for the 10 a.m. service.
At 2 p.m., a special service of word and song will feature several local choirs and soloists.
The speaker will be Lance Conley. A reception will follow.
Conley, the son of Gale Conley and Sheila Conley Jackson, was raised in the Scott’s Chapel church. He is a 1993 graduate of Hannibal High School, where he was a three-sport athlete, receiving All-State honors in track.
Conley graduated from Columbia College with a bachelors of science in business management. He is currently working on his MBA.  He is the director of sales and marketing for Truman Medical Center.
Conley and his wife, Dana, have been married for 11 years and have three sons, Quinton, Devin and Darin. The family loves spending time together, and they are active in their church, the Harvest Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo., where Lance serves as a deacon and lay speaker.
