Two games in and the Hannibal High School volleyball team is 2-0.
The Lady Pirates took on Payson Seymour on Tuesday and came away victorious in straight sets 25-21, 26-24.
The Lady Pirates were trailing by seven in the second game but were able to bounce back for the victory.
Hannibal Head Coach Amber Riefesel said the second game started out shaky.
“We came out strong the first game,” Riefesel. “The second game we were down by seven and once we decided to play our game we came back and won it.”
Carli Watson led the Lady Pirates with 20 set assists.
Kay Gieseke set the pace offensively with eight kills and on the defensive end Brooklyn Watson had six digs and three aces.
The junior varsity team also continued its strong start to the season with a victory over Payson Seymour’s JV team.
The JV Lady Pirates won in straight sets 25-10, 25-15.
Kaitlyn Edge led the way both offensively and defensively for the group with six kills and seven digs.
Erin Coulter helped to set Edge up with 12 set assists.
Jennifer Fohey also contributed with six digs.
The next contest for the Lady Pirates is at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 in the St. Charles West tournament.
