  • This 1955 photo was taken by Charles Doty along Hannibal's riverfront. Becker Spaun, local train historian, said this appears to be the southbound Zephyr Rocket, coming in from St. Paul. Note there are multiple mail cars behind the engine. The train was probably late, he said, because it was due into St. Louis around 7 a.m. To the left is the distribution building of the old power plant, at to the right is the river. The engine is a later model E-7, with large number boards. STEVE CHOU COLLECTION
