Sandra Kay Ghattas, 65, of Hannibal, Mo., died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at her home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at Holy Family Church in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, with Rosary at 5:30 p.m. at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Mrs. Ghattas was born Sept. 12, 1946, in Hannibal, Mo., to Roy Delbert and Rosalee Francis Toalson.
She was previously married to Ghattas M. Ghattas, and he survives.
Survivors include two children, Roselee A. Paubel (Larry) Pettitt of Hannibal, Mo., and Omar D. Ghattas (Richetta) of New London, Mo.; one brother, Carey Toalson (Brenda) of Hannibal, Mo.; one sister, Donna Toalson; one aunt, Nellie Toalson; and eight grandchildren, Zachary, Gabriel, Brittney, Joshua and Joseph Paubel and Jacob Ghattas, Tiffany Galati and Brandon Essig; nieces and nephews, Scott Toalson, Sister Clementia Toalson, Mike Toalson and Sarah Toalson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roy Toalson; one uncle, Aubrey Toalson; cousin, Henrietta Ruth Toalson; and her grandparents.
Mrs. Ghattas was a graduate of Hannibal High School Class of 1964. She attended Forest Park Community College, where she received her degree as a registered nurse.
Sandra was the owner/operator and administrator and nurse of the HRT Lodge Inc. from 1988 until presently. She was also part owner and administrator of the Omega House. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Singles Again. She loved being with her family, grandchildren and friends. Sandra enjoyed traveling all over the world. She liked baking cakes, nursing and taking care of her residents. She was a member of St. Cletus Church in St. Charles, Mo., and Holy Family Catholic Church. Sandra beat breast cancer and now gets to go home with God.
Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bob Sparks, Mike Toalson, Scott Toalson, Jacob Ghattas, Zachary Paubel and Gabriel Paubel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carey Toalson, Larry Pettitt, Steve Karr and Mark Head.
