A 16-year-old Hannibal, Mo., juvenile died Saturday, May 5, from injuries suffered in a traffic accident in Hannibal. Although the Hannibal Police Department did not report his name, multiple sources, including social media, have confirmed the victim was Austin Hampton, 16, of Hannibal.
His funeral arrangements are pending at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
The police said the accident was reported at 1:17 p.m. Saturday, when officers were called to the 700 block of Ben Lomond in reference to a one-vehicle accident with injuries.
When officers arrived, they located a 2001 Saturn in the wooded area east of the roadway. The vehicle had reportedly rolled away from a driveway.
The lone passenger in the crash was transported from the scene by a Marion County Ambulance and taken to the Hannibal Regional Hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.
