  • A Hannibal woman is dead after losing control of her car on Route T in Ralls County.
Marilyn K. Baker, 37, of Hannibal was traveling northbound on the windy road when she over-corrected her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, cut across the southbound lane, and went down an embankment near the Ralls and Marion County lines about a mile south of Mount Olivet Cemetery, striking several trees along the way.
Baker was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene — she was not wearing a seatbelt — and was transported by O’Donnell Funeral Home.
A school bus driver made the call to 9-1-1 and told authorities the wreckage was not in the embankment during morning routes. The bus driver’s call came in at 3:20 p.m., but it is not clear what time the accident actually occurred. Authorities at the scene said the bus driver most likely noticed the accident because of the bus’ height.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ralls County Sheriff Department, Hannibal Rural Fire Department and Hannibal Police Department worked the scene.
