Hazel Hopwood, 80, of Hannibal, went to be with her Lord at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at her home in Hannibal, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Clover Road Christian Church in Hannibal. Pastor Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Mrs. Hopwood was born on November 20, 1930, in Amarillo, TX, the daughter of Joe Swayze and Laura Miller Swayze. She married Bruce Hopwood on January 28, 1950, in Clovis, NM, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1994.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Marva) Hopwood of Hannibal; her daughters, Laura (Ron) McDowell of Hendersonville, TN, Lynda Long, Lona Hopwood and Lynn (David) Tischer all of Hannibal; her brothers, Kenneth (Ruth) Swayze of Wylie, TX, and Jim Swayze of Utopia, TX; and her sister, Fran Swayze of Cleburne, TX. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Angie Leap Bickford; her grandson, David Leap; her parents; her three brothers; and her three sisters.
She co-owned and operated Great River Video for 20 years.
She and her husband moved to Hannibal in 1964 from Amarillo, TX. She was a member of the Clover Road Christian Church in Hannibal.
She loved to sew, cook, travel, read, and water ski in her younger days. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to either the Clover Road Christian Church or the Community Loving Care Hospice, in care of Grand View Funeral Home.
