What conflict or war was going on during your time in the service: World War II. 1944 was one of our biggest battles, we lost 62 percent of our Company. I was one of the lucky ones to get back; we were under fire for 15 days.

Where did you serve: Hawaii, Australia, New Guinea, Goodenough Island, Admiralty Island, Hollandia, New Guinea, Panoan P.  Wounded on Nov. 20, 1944, and again in May 1945. I believe I owe my life to Harry Truman for dropping the bomb.

I want to thank Bill Craigmiles of Big River Oil for sending me on the Honor Flight. It was a trip that I will never forget.
