The cause of a fire which destroyed the restrooms in Riverview Park early Monday morning is still under investigation, according to the Hannibal Fire Department.
Four trucks and eight firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire in the park shortly after midnight. The call to 911 was made by a Board of Public Works employee at the water plant who saw the flames.
Upon arriving, firefighters found the restrooms behind the water filter plant fully involved. It took firefighters 15 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
According to the fire department, the restroom structure sustained major damage and is considered a total loss.
