  • Update: Authorities were searching Wednesday for a man who robbed the US Bank branch in Bowling Green.
       There were no injuries.
The suspect was described as a heavyset white man with large glasses. He was wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans, tennis shoes and a beanie-style stocking hat. A surveillance camera caught a picture of the man as he left the south entrance of the bank.
Cpl. Mark Bair of the Bowling Green Police Department said the man walked into the facility at 1:17 p.m. and demanded money from a teller.
Bair would not say if the man was armed or how much money was taken. The FBI had been called in to assist with the investigation.
Dawn Burgett, who said she was the mother of bank worker Amanda Havens, got the news about the robbery from a friend on the telephone. She was on her way to Curryville and turned around to head back to the bank.
“I freaked,” Burgett said. “She was my very first thought. I came to check on her.”
The sheriff stuck his head out the door of the bank to assure those standing outside that everyone inside the bank is OK.
The mother of one of the bank employees told Brent Engel that she heard about the robbery via phone call. "I was freaked out," she said.
