  •    A June 9 jury trial has been set for a Moberly man accused of assaulting a Monroe City woman and engaging in a standoff with authorities.
Thirty-eight-year-old Terry Wayne Gillispie is charged with felony deviate sexual assault and sexual abuse. He was being held in the Monroe County Jail on $50,000 cash-only bond.
Monroe City police said that the victim reported the incident on Dec. 1, 2010. The assault is alleged to have happened at the woman’s Monroe City residence.
After taking the report, Monroe City police contacted authorities in Moberly. They went to the suspect’s home in the 900 block of Franklin Street.
Authorities said Gillispie refused to come out. Police got a search warrant and members of the Moberly SWAT team and K9 unit raided the house more than three hours later. Police said that after a brief verbal exchange, the suspect surrendered.
