  • One student suffered minor injuries in an accident at 12:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, involving a school bus and a pickup truck in Lincoln County.
The truck’s passenger, Steffan R. Pogue, 23, of Troy, suffered moderate injuries. She was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Officers said the injured student was Jonathan Halbert, 13, of Troy. He also went by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West.
The truck driver was Kurtis A. Colbert, 30, of Winfield. The school bus, a 2009 Freightliner, was driven by Jean R. Thomasson, 56, of Troy.
The state patrol reported Colbert was driving a westbound 1993 Chevrolet truck on state Highway 47. The bus was eastbound on 47 turning north onto Ridge Road. Officers said the bus turned and stopped in the path of the truck. The truck skidded off the right side of the road and hit the bus head-on.
There were 23 students on the bus, according to Barry Nuss, fire marshal and PIO with the Lincoln County Fire Protection District No. 1.
Friday was an early dismissal day for the Troy district, and the bus was taking students home from Cuivre Park Elementary School.
Nuss reported that after the accident, another bus was brought to transport the students, and the original bus route was resumed.
