  • A 42-year-old Hannibal woman was arrested Saturday night, July 10, by the Hannibal Police Department for her alleged involvement in passing counterfeit bills at garage sales in Hannibal.
Lt. Kathy Davis reported the HPD was notified of the possible counterfeit bills Saturday afternoon and began an investigation.
The woman was taken to Marion County Jail, where she was being held Sunday afternoon on a 24-hour hold. The investigation is on-going, Davis said.
According to the HPD incident report for Saturday, fraud reports were received at 1:14 p.m. on Shawnee, at 2:22 p.m. on Lady Sioux, at 3:02 p.m. on Pioneer Trail and at 3:27 p.m. on Centerville Road.
Davis added that the Hannibal Police Department encourages both residents and business owners to be diligent in checking cash money over and if there is suspicion that the money may be counterfeit to contact your local law enforcement agency.
