Barbara Lucille “Bobby Lou” Drebes, age 77, of Palmyra, Mo., passed away 12:10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the home of her granddaughter in Palmyra.
Bobby Lou was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Newark, Mo., to Arthur L. and Greta Hustead Copenhaver. Bobby Lou was married to Herbert Lee Drebes July 10, 1952, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1997.
Survivors include daughters, Joy Jackson of Hannibal, and Gay Saxbury and husband Vernon of Palmyra; one son, Marty Drebes of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Tori Jackson and Donnaley Jackson of Hannibal, Malena Saxbury and Marwenda Cowan of O’Fallon, Mo., Beth Wilson of Palmyra, Christina Zeiger of Hannibal, Marcus Saxbury and Kaleb Drebes of Palmyra, Michael Saxbury of Hannibal, and Matt Saxbury of Monroe City; great grandchildren, Bryce Saxbury, Alex Wilson and Tyler Wilson of Palmyra, Brandon, Brent and Bennet Zeiger of Hannibal, Destin Kirk and Cole Saxbury of Hannibal, Jonathon Saxbury and Jay Hufford of Monroe City, Rosalynn Kirk and Layten Jackson of Hannibal, Bella McBride of O’Fallon, Mo., and Baylee Zieger and Michaela Saxbury of Hannibal; one sister, Alice Meers of St. Charles, Mo.; and one brother, Lloyd Copenhaver of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Drebes; parents; and one brother, James Copenhaver.
Mrs. Drebes was the co-owner of A Liquor Mart in Palmyra for many years.
She was a 1951 graduate of Palmyra High School.
Bobby Lou was an avid Palmyra Athletic Booster and fan, following girls softball, basketball and football. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Palmyra.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. The Rev. Drew Sutor and the Rev. Steve Barker will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, Mo. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church and/or Palmyra Community Ballparks.
Casket bearers will be Marcus Saxbury, Matt Saxbury, Jeremy Cowan, Scott Zieger, Bryce Saxbury and Michael Saxbury
Honorary bearers will be Kaleb Derebes, Bobby Lou’s six granddaughters, Cindy Holm andBrandi Kiefaber.
