  • Mark Twain Lake invites the public to the Frank Russell Recreation Area at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 24, for an Earth Day celebration.
Work that day will focus on the continued development of the Northeast Missouri Environmental Stewardship Demonstration Area, which is being created to showcase effective and practical natural resource stewardship practices. Activities include wildlife home construction (bird houses and the art of brush pile construction), trail work (ATVs and carts are needed to move mulch), tree planting, tree identification and other various activities.
Persons who can help with the work or who have an ATV and cart which can be used should contact Park Ranger Shelly Howald before Monday, April 19, at (573) 735-4097.
