- Days Gone By: Goldilocks and the Three Bears
- Posted Feb. 23, 2012 midnight
- When a bright gold Cadillac hearse pulled up in front of the National Guard Armory back in October 1965, Hannibal teens knew they were in for a real treat. Goldilocks and the Three Bears, a popular music group, was set to perform before a hometown crowd. Band members Ted Hardy and Max Smith were former Hannibal High School gridders, and the keyboard player, Louis Rennau, starred with Hannibal’s Ban Johnson Baseball League for several years. The fourth member of the group, Ted Hardy, served a term at HHS student body president. The four would go on to become what was described at the time as “the hottest thing to hit the Midwest.” They performed in Kansas City, Chicago, Springfield, at the Lodge of the Four Seasons in the Ozarks, at the Jeffersonian Club in Jefferson City, and at Penthouse Eleven atop the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis.
