    • Donating dictionaries

    • For the last seven years the Early Bird Kiwanis Club of Hannibal has purchased and distributed paperback versions of the New Webster’s Dictionaries for all 3rd graders in the Hannibal Public School system including Holy Family and St. John’s Lutheran schools. These dictionaries are purchased from proceeds from various fund raisers throughout the year which are hosted by the Early Bird Kiwanis Club, such as their two Butterfly Pork Chop dinners in the spring and fall and their food stand in Central Park during the National Tom Sawyer Days event. On Tuesday, September 20th, members of the Early Bird Kiwanis Club visited all the 3rd grade classes in Hannibal to present each child with their own personal copy of the New Webster’s Dictionary. Over 300 dictionaries were distributed. “Young Children – Priority One” is the motto of the Hannibal Early Bird Kiwanis Club. The Early Birds have been serving the children of the Hannibal area for over 34 years. They met every Thursday at 7:00 a.m. at the Hannibal Nutrition Center. Anyone interested in joining the Early Bird Kiwanis Club is welcome to attend a meeting to learn more about their various activities.
