Rev. and Mrs. George F. Major mark their 40th wedding anniversary on July 6, 2009. George and Sue were married at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Hannibal on July 6, 1969, by Rev. Eugene Downs. They will be celebrating this event with a special ceremony on Saturday, July 18, at their home church, the Faith Presbyterian Church in Quincy, Ill., wherein they will be renewing their wedding vows. A reception in the Fellowship Hall will follow the ceremony.
George is a graduate of Dubuque Theological Seminary and a retired minister and lay pastor and former social worker. Sue is an RN and will be retiring July 31, from Marion County Health Department after 28 and a half years of service. George and Sue have two sons, Eric and Sean Major and four grandchildren, Austin, Caden, Melody and Gaven.
