McElroy ~ 50th
Jacqueline Carol Turner McElroy and Hellmuth U. McElroy Jr., of Hannibal celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sept. 19, 2009, with a dinner and dance at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Hannibal hosted by their daughters, June McElroy Bradshaw and Gailya McElroy.
The couple was married Sept. 19, 1959, at Helping Hand Baptist Church, Hannibal. Rev. W. S Woolridge officiated.
The couple’s attendants were Gerald McElroy, cousin of groom, and Glessie McElroy Williams, sister of groom.
Jacqueline’s parents are the late Harry Turner and Margaret Divers Gordon.
Hellmuth’s parents are the late Hellmuth U McElroy Sr. and Bernadine Buckner McElroy.
The couple’s children are: the late Cheryl Edwina McElroy, the late Lisa Carol McElroy, June McElroy Bradshaw (Art) of Columbia, Mo., Gailya Lynn McElroy of Austell, Ga., and the late Carol Beth McElroy.
Their grandchildren are Eric Quentin McElroy and Christopher Terrell McElroy Bradshaw of Columbia, Mo. They have one great-grandchild. Brooklynn Marie McElroy.
Hellmuth is a retired machinist from Harris Corporation, Quincy Ill.
Jacqueline is retired from the Missouri Department of Mental Health — Hannibal Regional Center and Hannibal Regional Hospital
The couple enjoys hosting family barbecues, watching Hannibal High School football and basketball games, traveling to visit family and visiting with grandchildren. They are active members of Helping Hand Baptist Church. Hellmuth enjoys woodworking.
