Two injured in Lincoln Co. accident

Two people were hurt Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Lincoln County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 4:18 p.m. on southbound U.S. 61 at South Lincoln Drive. A 2007 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Karen Pierce, 56, of O’Fallon was reportedly attempting to cross U.S. 61 from South Lincoln Drive and failed to yield to a 2000 Ford Mustang driven by 19-year-old Joshua Benson of Moscow Mills, which was traveling south on U.S. 61. The front of the Chevrolet struck the right side of the Ford.
Both Pierce, who was wearing a safety device, and Benson, who was not wearing a safety restraint, suffered moderate injuries. They were taken to St. Joseph West Hospital by Lincoln County Ambulance.
