Two drivers die in three-vehicle collision

Bruce L. Cannon, 53, of Winfield, and Earl D. Fetters, 70, of St. Charles, died at the scene of a three-vehicle collision at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in St. Charles County.
Bernice M. Fetters, 65, of St. Charles, suffered serious injuries, and Michael A. Fetters, 28, of St. Charles, had moderate injuries. She was flown to St. John’s Medical Center in Creve Coeur, and he was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Louis reported the collision occurred on state Highway 79 south of Dyer Road.
Officers reported Floyd L. Bowman, 78, of O’Fallon, was driving a southbound 1999 Mercury Sable and passing a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Earl Fetters. The left side of the Bowman car hit the left side of a northbound 2003 Ford Mustang driven by Cannon.
Cannon lost control of his car, which hit the Fetters vehicle head-on. Both Cannon and Fetters were pronounced dead at the scene by 9:20 p.m. by fire department personnel. Bowman was not injured.
