Mary Hatch, 73, of Louisiana, died Tuesday afternoon from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle collision at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, in rural Lincoln County. Four more people were injured. The accident was on U.S. 61 at Tickridge Road.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Louis reported Hatch was a passenger in a northbound 2001 Oldsmobile Alero driven by Darrell W. Wright, 26, of Louisiana. Wright attempted to avoid a collision with a northbound 2001 Ford Focus driven by Bruce E. Watson, 58, of Elsberry, and the Wright car swerved off the right side of the road, with its left side hitting the right side of the Watson car.
The Wright car continued off the right side of the road and hit a ditch, then became airborne and landed on Tickridge Road and went off the north side of the road. The front of the car then hit a 1996 Ford Ranger that was parked on Tickridge Road, and overturned.
Hatch was flown to St. John’s Hospital in Creve Coeur, where she was pronounced dead at 1:04 p.m. Tuesday.
Watson had minor injuries. Wright had moderate injuries. His passengers, Jessica M. Wharton, 20, and Haley N. Wright, 2, both of Louisiana, also were injured. Wharton was taken to St. John’s Mercy Hospital. Watson, Darrell Wright and Haley Wright were taken to St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis.
