Four people from Silex were injured Wednesday afternoon in a four-vehicle accident in Lincoln County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 3:05 p.m. on Route E at Route R/A. A 2005 Dodge Ram, driven east by 17-year-old Joshua Schipper of Silex, attempted to make a left-hand turn. In so doing it turned into the path of a westbound 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 49-year-old Lesley Amschler of Silex which struck the Ram on the right side. The impact caused the Tahoe to strike a 2001 Toyota Corolla driven by 17-year-old Alyssa Montalbano of Silex head on. That collision caused the Corolla to go backward and strike the front of a 1998 Ford Mustang operated by 17-year-old Larry Brownlee of Silex.
In addition to Alyssa Montalbano, who was seriously injured, two passengers in her car were also hurt - Laura Montalbano (age unknown) and Salvatore Montalbano, 18. Laura Montalbano was seriously injured while Salvatore Montalbano’s injuries were described as moderate. Also injured was Amschler, whose injuries were moderate. None of the people injured in the accident were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP report.
Amschler, Alyssa Montalbano and Laura Montalbano were all taken by Lincoln County ambulance to St. Joseph West Hospital. Salvatore Montalbano was transported to St. John’s Hospital by Lincoln County ambulance.
