Griggsville woman dies in Pike County accident

A Griggsville, Ill., woman suffered fatal injuries in a two-vehicle accident Sunday night in Pike County.
According to the Illinois State Police District 20, the accident occurred at 8:46 p.m. on U.S. 54, 0.1 of a mile west of County Road 390th Avenue in Pike County. A Chevrolet pickup truck that was pulling a trailer was being driven west on U.S. 54 by 40-year-old James McKenney of Clarksville. Reportedly, an eastbound Chevrolet car driven by 82-year-old Alberta Shaw of Griggsville crossed the center line and struck the trailer.
Shaw, who was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, was transported to Illini Hospital by Pike County Ambulance where she later died of her injuries.
Neither McKenney or two passengers in his vehicle were injured. All were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
