Illinois man dies in highway work accident

An Illinois highway construction worker died Monday when he was backed over by a dump truck.
Killed was James Brink, the asphalt foreman with Brink Construction.
The accident happened at approximately 1:38 p.m. on U.S. 24 in Rushville, Ill., according to the Illinois State Police. Brink Construction was removing asphalt from U.S. 24. Thomas Acker, a worker with the Schuyler County Highway Department, was waiting in a dump truck for a load of the milled asphalt. Reportedly, Brink started walking behind the dump truck just as Acker began to back the truck up. Brink was knocked to the pavement and was run over by the rear dual tires of the dump truck.
Brink was transported to Culbertson Memorial hospital in Rushville where he was pronounced dead.
