New art billboards showing

HANNIBAL | Lamar digital billboards in Hannibal, Quincy and Keokuk are now showing four digital images of works by area artists.

These are part of the Hannibal Arts Council's 6th Annual Art in the Open billboard contest, a collaborative project of HAC, Independent's ServiceCompanyandLamar Advertising of Hannibal. In addition to the digital billboards, winners will also be featured on physical billboards in the area in the coming weeks.

Three winners in the Adult Division and one winner in the Youth Division are being featured. Winners include Kelly Eddington, of Monroe City, “Dandelion with Violets,” Rachel Loyd, of Quincy Ill., “Euphoria,” Victoria Taylor, of Quincy Ill., “Man Who Stands Tall” and Youth Division winner Josie Zeiger, of New London, “Lipstick Stain.”

The deadline to enter the 7th Annual Art in the Open Billboard Contest is Nov. 6. Youth ages 8 to 17 and professional and non-professional artists 18 years of age or older who live within a 50-mile radius of Hannibal are invited to submit images of original works for the contest.
