Helen Jean Dean, 94, of Valparaiso, Indiana and formerly of Hannibal, Missouri, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Rittenhouse Senior Living in Valparaiso, Indiana. 

Private Services were held, Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home. Bruce Battle officiated.

Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal, Missouri.

Helen was born January 3, 1926, in Hannibal, Missouri to Ernest "Pete" Allen and Susan Ollie Allen.

She was married to Pat Dean in November of 1946, in Waco, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1999.

Jean is survived by three children, Candace Haugh (John) of Valparaiso, Indiana, Susan Enright (George) of Gilbert, Arizona, and Paula Dean of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents.

Professionally Jean worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Miller in Hannibal for many years.

In her free time Jean enjoyed sewing and liked to make quilts for her grandchildren.

Jean also loved to spend time with her prayer group. Jean's greatest joy was spending time with her family and her greatest passion was sharing the love of Jesus with others.

Jean loved her Lord Savior Jesus.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army or to God's Harvest.

The Missouri high school spring sports season will be delayed until at least the beginning of May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Most local schools have canceled classes until May 1, and will re-evaluate the situation as it gets closer to that date. The best case scenario would have high school sports resume soon after.
